Liner Notes
The party is over. And so is the summer.
There is sand in your hair. There is sand in your shoe.
The sun is down. And so are you.
You threw parties, threw punches, threw fits, and threw darts.
Your summer break ended up breaking your heart.
You stirred your drinks. You stirred your souls.
You spilled your guts. You spilled your drinks.
The floor is sticky. And so is the sole of your shoe.
The seasons are turning. The kids are still yearning.
The new day is dawning. The kids are still longing for their aloe vera cream.
The hardest part is parting.
But wait until tomorrow. The summer was sweet, but so is the sorrow.
Your heartstrings sound somber. Your hair, a shade blonder.
You leave and you wander. You can’t move beyond her.
There was sand in the sofa. There is sand in your loafer.
The bottles are empty. And you know you are, too.
Easy listening is not always an easy listen.
These are the soft sounds of hard times—our times.
And our times are through.
This is After Ours.
